LS e-Mobility Solutions is excited to announce the opening of a new factory in Mexico that will manufacture safety parts for electric vehicles (EV), establishing itself as a strategic hub for supplying key EV components in North America.
LS Electric's EV parts division shared exciting news on Monday about the new plant, which has the capacity to produce five million EV relays and four million battery disconnect units annually. These components play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of battery-powered EVs. The facility is located in the beautiful north-central state of Durango, Mexico.
Exciting news! The company has just set up its first overseas factory since parting ways with LS Electric in April 2022. LS e-Mobility Solutions sees this region as a key location for production and logistics to fuel its expansion into the United States. Don't forget, the company already has production bases in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, and Wuxi, China.
LS e-Mobility Solutions is all set to make a big impact in the next-generation core business by striving to be the top auto parts manufacturer for EVs in North America,” shared LS Electric Chairman Koo Ja-kyun at a festive event celebrating the completion of the factory. “Investing in EVs is crucial in this electrifying era. We are excited to achieve significant milestones as we have proactively expanded our production base in the world's largest EV market.
LS e-Mobility Solutions clinched a mega-sized EV relay supply deal worth 250 billion won with Hyundai Motor and Kia in August last year. It has been only about a year since its division that the company attained an accumulated contract worth 1 trillion won.
“We have decided to set up the EV parts production line in Mexico as part of efforts to meet the standard required in North America, and this is the first time that a local firm has done so there, an official from the company said.
